Regional Clinical Educator

About the role

The Regional Clinical Educator provides oversight of the clinical staff of all ground ambulances associated with MercyOne to deliver safe, evidence-based care. This role serves as a clinical leader and resource for all regional team locations and participates in MercyOne’s outreach program.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the quality assurance program.
• Oversight of all clinical staff for the ground ambulance programs across the state.
• Coordinates with local base Educators on formal education for the Emergency Transport Services Division based on industry trends and evaluation of quality data.
• Participates with the Director, Managers, and Educators in the hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating of all staff.
• Works with local base leadership to facilitate the on-boarding process of new employees.
• Responsible for the clinical advancement of the program.
• Coordinates with the base Educator to assess and evaluate the performance of the clinical staff of all regions.
• Serves as a clinical resource and preceptor for all clinical staff.
• Coordinates with Medical Directors to review, write, and edit Patient Care Guidelines and Policy and Procedures based on evidence-based material.

Requirements

• Licensed Paramedic or Registered Nurse required.
• Paramedic:
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Degree preferred).
  • Current certification as a Paramedic (PM) in the State of Iowa. (MercyOne Genesis – current Paramedic (PM) license in either Iowa or Illinois is required at the time of hire. A secondary PM license for the other state must be obtained within 120 days of the hire or transfer date.)
  • Iowa Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) Endorsement.
• Registered Nurse:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
  • Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa. (MercyOne Genesis – current Registered Nurse (RN) license in either Iowa or Illinois is required at the time of hire. A secondary RN license for the other state must be obtained within 120 days of the hire or transfer date.)
