Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, service and repair equipment for steam, refrigeration, water, compressed air and HVAC systems
- Perform rounds and keep logs of daily operations and for engine room, boiler room and refrigeration equipment
- Test and monitor water samples for boiler and condenser towers
- Maintain and troubleshoot ammonia refrigeration compressors, condensers, pumps, vessels / recirculatory, purges, evaporators / RMAU’s, heat exchangers, and control valves / isolation valves
- Maintain and troubleshoot steam boilers, hot water heaters, HVAC systems and air compressors, general facility support equipment
- Participate in the PSM Program
- Promote safe working habits, maintain good morale and positive attitude
- Log time and material usage into SAP/SIGGA for PMs and corrective maintenance
- Able to assist or perform PM’s using SOP’s, LOTO and P,I&D’s
- Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained
- Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality
- Able to work overtime and holidays when needed
- Responsible for training employees on relevant content
- Participate with water/gas/air systems maintenance/operations team members and tasks to ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost, are continuously being improved to achieve company objectives
- Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture
- Learn and execute Precision Maintenance® techniques ensuring procedural compliance and that job tolerances are met
- Participate in critical water/gas/air systems training for maintenance/operations personnel
- Participate in implementing quality assurance and reliability procedures for critical water/gas/air systems spares and parts
- Participate and assist craftsman during critical water/gas/air systems maintenance assignments
- Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support water/gas/air systems reliability reporting and decision making
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records (i.e., SAP data, regulatory documentation etc..)
- Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement
- Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture, values, and principles

- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks

- Demonstrate mechanical abilities/Electrical troubleshooting skills
Qualifications
- Educational requirements: High school diploma or GED, associate's degree or two-year technical certificate preferred
- Experience: 1 year of experience in an industrial environment with an emphasis on steam or refrigeration preferred
- Technical skills: Ability to read and understand mechanical, piping, and/or electrical schematics and blueprints including equipment specific diagrams preferred
- Software proficiency: Prior experience in SAP preferred
- Specific certifications: Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in Ammonia Refrigeration, PSM experience, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers at all levels, ability to interact with all levels of the organization, excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Physical requirements: Capable of safely lifting 75 lbs. on occasion, exposure to a noisy environment that varies from hot to cold in temperature, exposure to cold environments down to -20°F in freezers and 120°F in boiler room, exposure to confined spaces, exposure to wet environments, exposure to icy environments, exposure to elevated areas on ladders and lifts, exposure to emergency response team activities, ability to wear and use required respiratory protective devices (SCBA)
