Referrals Specialist II - Hybrid- Bilingual English/Spanish

Urban Health Plan is seeking a Referrals Specialist II to manage patient information within our Specialty Department at El Nuevo San Juan (and soon Plaza San Juan) in the Bronx.

About the role

This full-time position focuses on insurance verification, medical terminology, and high-volume patient referrals. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday.

Responsibilities

• Input high volume of patient information and ancillary referrals for appointments via phone and fax.
• Review patient information for specialty type, referral reason, ICD-10 diagnosis, medications, and other details.
• Seek prior authorization from patient insurance carriers.
• Respond promptly to patient requests for information while ensuring confidentiality compliance.
• Contact external specialists and schedule appointments for patients.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• 1–2 years of related experience in the healthcare field with knowledge of referrals, medical terminology, and coding.
• Ability to work in a high-volume call environment.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) required.
• ICD-10 Coding certification is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

$20.25 per hour.
