Referrals Specialist I- Hybrid- Bilingual English/Spanish

Urban Health Plan is seeking a Referrals Specialist I to manage patient information and insurance-related processes in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Inputs high volume of patient information and ancillary referrals for appointments via phone and fax.
• Reviews patient information for type of specialty, referral reason, ICD-10 diagnosis, medications, etc.
• Maintains electronic platforms/EMRs, including ECW, EPIC, and EQUIPO.
• Assists with managing reception calls and providing referral action steps.
• Seeks prior authorization from patient insurance carriers.
• Responds in a timely manner to patient requests for information and provides appropriate follow-up and timely scheduling.
• Ensures ongoing compliance with confidentiality standards.
• Contacts external specialists and makes appointments for the patient.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• 1-2 years of related experience in the health care field with understanding of medical terminology and coding.
• Comfortable working in an environment with a high volume of calls.
• Bilingual Spanish/English required.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.

Pay

$19.50 per hour.

Schedule

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
• Hybrid schedule: three days onsite (The Bronx) and two days from home.
