Referrals Coordinator, Primary Care, Baptist University

About the role

Baptist Health is Jacksonville's only locally governed, faith-based, not-for-profit health system providing a full spectrum of preventive and specialty care through 200+ locations and six hospitals. Our centers of excellence include Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, Baptist Heart Hospital, Baptist Neurological Institute, and Wolfson Children's Hospital. Baptist Health is hiring a Referrals Coordinator for our Primary Care department at Baptist University.

Responsibilities

• Primarily interact with staff, patients, internal departments, physician practices, and insurance companies to obtain maximum reimbursement through established authorization procedures and order entry.
• Secure medication authorizations, infusion authorizations, and injectable authorizations for two providers.
• Work and communicate with the Provider's team to enable minimal turnaround times for patient care.

Requirements

• Previous referrals and healthcare experience.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Skills

• Experience tracking referrals to avoid duplications, ensuring completion, and verifying documentation in the EMR.
• Ability to provide referral assistance to physicians, patients, and insurance companies.
• Knowledge of how to accurately complete verification of insurance benefits and authorizations using online tools and/or direct contact with insurance carriers.
• Proficiency in registering patients in a timely, accurate, and professional manner that aligns with Baptist Health's core values.
• Experience scheduling appointments, processing prescriptions and referrals, and maintaining medical documentation.
