Referral Specialist

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities:

• Daily review and securing of Specialists referrals via the EPIC Referral Work queues.
• Daily review and monitoring, timely securing of the Diagnostic services referral work queues.
• Utilization of Managed Care portals, insurance websites, Availity, etc. to secure referrals and diagnostic service authorizations.
• Accurately enters patient demographics information and insurance data in the computer as documented.
• Safeguards that authorizations are obtained prior to scheduling procedures/testing.
• Attaches referrals and authorizations to visit in Epic.
• Efficiently schedules appointments, recording them as documented and following practice policy.
• Consistently demonstrates a clear understanding of departmental needs and job functions as assigned by department Manager and/or immediate supervisor.
• Demonstrates flexibility as well as ability to perform multiple functions within the practice to increase departmental efficiency.
• Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to communicate with other offices in an effort to accurately and efficiently schedule testing/procedures.
• Notifies supervisor of any problems pertaining to processing the patients for upcoming testing/procedures.

• Education: High School
• Experience: 1-3 years experience.
