The Referral Navigator is responsible for managing referrals from Primary Care Providers to specialist care providers, both internal and external. Key duties include building, reviewing, submitting, and processing referrals, ensuring all required documentation is complete, and handling paperwork such as faxing and scanning. They determine if referrals meet criteria, send back for additional info, cancel non-compliant referrals, and forward questionable cases for medical review. While primarily computer-based, the role involves significant paperwork handling and phone communication, with direct patient contact. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED and at least 2 years experience in a health-related field and with Electronic Medical Records or Practice Management Software. Preferred skills include medical assistant experience and bilingual ability in English/Spanish. Soft skills such as excellent communication and phone etiquette are essential.
