Referral & Intake Specialist / Infusion

About the role

Amerita, Inc. is a leading provider in home infusion therapy. We are seeking an Intake Coordinator to join our growing Intake team. The Intake Coordinator will report to the General Manager and work in our location branch. Amerita is an entrepreneurial-founded company and a subsidiary of PharMerica. The home infusion market is poised for rapid growth due to the aging population, increased prevalence of chronic diseases, a robust pipeline of infusible drugs entering the market, and a shift towards lower-cost, higher-quality alternatives like Amerita.

Responsibilities

• Process referrals from referral sources, ensuring all required documentation is received and the referral checklist is complete.
• Enter patient demographic, clinical, and insurance and authorization information into the computer system.
• Coordinate with other departments including Sales, Access, and clinical staff regarding the status of referrals and any authorization requirements.
• Ensure insurance verification is completed and patients have accepted financial responsibility before initial shipment.
• Complete documentation of progress notes in the computer system.
• Notify patients/caregivers about insurance coverage and payment responsibilities.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and proprietary information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required; an Associate’s Degree or some college preferred.
• Experience working with all payer types, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies.
• Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-certification procedures.
• Understanding of Amerita's scope of services.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
