About the role
The Referral Coordinator at Bronson works to coordinate all aspects of the referral process, ensuring smooth transitions between patients, physicians, specialty offices, primary care offices, and insurance companies.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates referral activity between patient, physician, specialty office, primary care office, and insurance company.
- Ensures accurate billing and demographic information is obtained.
- Manages electronic health record referral/order work queues according to office/provider preference and patient needs.
- Communicates delays/denials to the ProHealth team and employer.
- Processes and schedules referrals, including CPT and ICD-9 coding.
- Participates in case management meetings.
- Additional responsibilities for Digestive Health may include processing and scheduling digestive health procedures.
- Rotational coverage at the in-person scheduling desk.
- Works in a setting that involves high levels of mental and visual fatigue, as well as physical demands such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and lifting light weight objects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, and 1-2 years related experience and/or training.
- Medical Assistant Registry or Certification, or LPN license in the state of Michigan, required within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-9 coding.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Medic).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive customer service skills.
- Effective working relations with office staff and employees in a team environment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Manage time independently and prioritize effectively.
Qualifications
- For Financial Clearance: High school diploma or GED, and 1-2 years related experience and/or training.
- For ProHealth: Medical Assistant Registry or Certification, or LPN license in the state of Michigan required within 90 days of hire.
