Job Description
The Referral Coordinator, under direct supervision of the Practice Manager/Administrator, coordinates and supervises all aspects of the patient referral process, adhering to established timelines and procedures. They work collaboratively with clinic staff, referring physician office staff, third-party payers, and patients to complete and expedite the referral process. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Responsibilities
- Coordinates and supervises all aspects of the patient referral process, adhering to established timelines and procedures.
- Works collaboratively with clinic staff, referring physician office staff, third-party payers, and patients to complete and expedite the referral process.
- Ensures all performed duties are in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a physician’s office.
- Must have insurance experience.
Qualifications
- Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities.
- Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone.
- Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels.
- Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations.
Skills
- Superior customer service skills.
- Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient).
- Other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.).
- MS Outlook and Word.
- Appropriate clinical judgment and professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
Benefits
Shifts: Monday - Thursday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) and Friday (8:00 AM-2:00 PM)
