Main Responsibilities

  • Work will involve physical exertion of a practical nature.
  • Able to work safely and follow the policies and procedures of the company.
  • Able to perform various labor activities including, but not limited to:
    • shoveling dirt, sand, asphalt or concrete using short or long handle shovels;
    • cutting or trimming trees and vegetation using axes, ditch blades, sling blades, chain saws or power weed trimmers;
    • driving stakes or breaking pavement using sledge hammers, digging holes using hand-operated post hole diggers;
    • operating hand-driven compaction devices, and brooming dirt and debris using hand brooms.
  • Activities may take place at one or more of the following locations:
    • asphalt plants,
    • existing roads or streets under traffic,
    • new roads and streets without traffic,
    • various building sites,
    • and the office or shop facilities.

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred), but not necessarily required.
  • Minimum of 1-3 months of work-related experience and/or training.
  • Able to work day or night shifts.
  • Able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Provide own transportation to and from work.
  • Driving License (preferred).
  • Able to provide proper documentation that you have the legal right to work in the United States.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or walk.
  • Use specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Have 20/40 vision, either naturally or with corrective lenses.
  • Hearing should be excellent or corrected by audio device.

Work Environment

  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
