Reefer Technician - Truck Fleet

About the role

The Reefer Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, and shipping containers. They diagnose faults using diagnostic tools, replace faulty parts, recharge refrigerant, and ensure units operate within required temperature ranges. The technician collaborates with drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff to coordinate repairs and minimize downtime.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing complex control board failures
• Replacing compressors
• Repairing evaporator and condenser systems
• Performing advanced diagnostics
• Replacing sensors and electrical components
• Analyzing refrigeration performance
• Overseeing major repairs
• Supporting warranty work
• Maintaining service records
• Assisting with fleet maintenance planning
• Training other technicians (as required)

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 608 certification
• Valid driver's license
• Minimum 7+ years of related experience
• Ability to maintain essential mechanic tools
• EPA certification
• Completion of SpartanNash safety and driving training
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, walk, crouch, and work in a warehouse environment with temperature variations and moderate to high noise levels
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime
