Reefer Diesel Technician

About the role

Ryder is hiring a Refrigeration Diesel Technician in Sterling, Virginia. This position offers a stable career with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair a full range of trucks and trailers, focusing on refrigeration systems like Thermo King and Carrier.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance, including oil changes, brake and tire work.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, using diagnostic computers/software when applicable.
• Perform remote triage to assist roadside breakdowns with RCRC and customers.
• Perform facility maintenance duties.
• Instruct and advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
• Coach and mentor other level technicians.
• Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs.
• Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
• Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Vocational or Technical Certification.
• Post-secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred.
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines.
• Basic tools required.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred.
• ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic required.
• Ability to perform all T3 tasks.
• Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Available to work shift work, weekends, and on-call duty as required.
• Operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently.
• Minimum tool requirement.
• Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles.

Pay

Hourly Pay: $42.00 per hour.

Certification Bonus of $100 for each New ASE Certification Obtained up to $700.

Quarterly Bonus: Ryder Pays you up to $500 Every Quarter - Four Times Per Year.

Sign On Bonus: Ryder Pays You $2500 at 30 days and $2500 at 90 days.
