Position Summary
The Manager, Talent Acquisition is responsible for leading and executing Ohio Machinery Co.’s enterprise-wide talent acquisition strategy across Ohio CAT, Ohio Peterbilt, and affiliated businesses. This role operates as a strategic partner to business leaders while maintaining direct ownership of recruiting execution, pipeline strategy, and hiring outcomes.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary point of contact for business leaders on recruiting strategy, hiring priorities, and labor market insights
- Partner with leaders to define role requirements, candidate profiles, and sourcing strategies
- Translate business needs into actionable recruiting plans that address both immediate hiring and long-term pipeline needs
- Provide regular updates to leadership on hiring progress, challenges, and market trends
- Lead recruitment efforts for key, complex, or hard-to-fill roles, particularly technician and critical positions
- Manage full-cycle recruiting activities, including intake, sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer support
- Ensure consistent and high-quality execution of recruiting processes across all roles and locations
- Step in as needed during periods of high hiring demand to support team capacity and maintain performance
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of recruiters and a Recruiting Coordinator
- Provide day-to-day guidance on recruiting strategy, candidate management, and stakeholder communication
- Reinforce expectations around accountability, consistency, and follow-through
- Support development of recruiter capability in sourcing, consultation, and pipeline management
- Partner closely with the Workforce Development Manager to align recruiting efforts with long-term pipeline strategies
- Support school partnerships, community outreach efforts, and early talent programs
- Contribute to the design and execution of “grow-your-own” initiatives for technician roles
- Ensure hiring data, volume trends, and candidate insights inform workforce development programming and priorities
- Oversee use and optimization of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and recruiting tools
- Partner with vendors including job boards, sourcing platforms, and background providers to support hiring efforts
- Maintain consistent processes, workflows, and documentation across recruiting activities
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting, and overall recruiting effectiveness
- Ensure a positive and consistent candidate experience from initial contact through onboarding transition
- Coach hiring managers on interviewing practices, candidate evaluation, and decision-making
- Support structured and repeatable hiring processes to improve quality and consistency
- Act as a liaison between candidates, hiring managers, and internal teams throughout the hiring process
- Identify gaps in recruiting processes and implement practical improvements
- Support standardization efforts across divisions and locations to reduce variability in hiring outcomes
- Share successful sourcing strategies, outreach efforts, and hiring practices across the team
- Contribute to ongoing development of recruiting metrics and performance tracking
Minimum Skills And Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, recruiting, or workforce development, including experience leading recruiting efforts in a high-volume or operations-driven environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and influence others in a team or project-based environment
- Experience recruiting for operational, technical, or skilled trade roles preferred
- Strong working knowledge of recruiting systems, tools, and vendor platforms
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working across multiple locations or business units preferred
