About the Role

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a Recruiter/Talent Acquisition Specialist to join its People Department. This role is responsible for sourcing, attracting, and hiring qualified candidates to meet the organization's staffing needs, managing the end-to-end recruitment process, and ensuring a positive candidate experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute targeted sourcing strategies using channels like LinkedIn, job boards, ATS, referrals, and professional networks.
• Build and maintain talent pipelines across all agencies, segmented by skill, to address hiring needs and reduce sourcing time.
• Lead structured intake sessions to define role criteria, align on competencies, and coach interview teams.
• Assess candidate fit through resume reviews, phone screens, and documentation in the ATS.
• Prepare candidates for interviews, consolidate feedback, and manage the offer process, including salary negotiations and background checks.
• Monitor recruitment metrics, identify process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance.
• Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Minimum 3 years of HR experience, with at least 1 year in recruitment/talent acquisition.
• Hands-on experience with full-cycle recruitment and passive talent sourcing.
• Proficiency in HR databases, ATS, and CRM systems (Jobvite experience a plus).
• Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of staffing principles, employment laws, and interview techniques.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with MTA policies, procedures, and collective bargaining processes.
• Relevant certifications or licenses in talent acquisition or HR.

Work Location and Schedule

This position is based at 300 Cadman Plaza and is eligible for teleworking one day per week after 30 days of employment. The role is full-time.

Pay

Salary range: $70,285 - $87,857.
