Recreational Therapist

About the role

Lifepoint Behavioral Health is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team at UP Health System - Marquette, Behavioral Health Unit. This position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessment and establishes recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.
• Pre-certifies patient care and conducts ongoing reviews to authorize continued care.
• Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions.
• Formulates a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment data from the Interdisciplinary Assessments.
• Updates Treatment Plan weekly or more often as needed.
• Captures therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.
• Aids in the development of discharge plans in timely and documented standards.
• Provides patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure lifestyles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.

Requirements

• Current Recreational Therapist license.
• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field.
• Certifications: Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
• BLS (Basic Life Support).
• Handle with Care (within 3 months of hire).

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic recreation techniques and principles.
• Ability to develop and implement group and individual recreational therapy programs.
• Proficiency in using technology for patient care documentation and scheduling.
