RECREATIONAL THERAPIST

About the role

Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Plainview, Texas is seeking an experienced Recreational Therapist/Activities Coordinator. Previous psychiatric experience in an acute setting is mandatory, with a strong preference for geriatric psych experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide medically-approved activities for patients within the facility
• Include leisure skills, social activities, physical/exercise, cognitive challenges, and arts and crafts
• Support the clinical department through teamwork and input into patient psychosocial needs

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• One year experience in a healthcare setting (strongly preferred)
• Certification through an approved program for Activity Therapy duties
• Basic understanding of DSM V diagnostic criteria and medical/psychiatric diagnoses

• Copies of Clinical license if applicable
