Recreational Services Aide Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implements activity programming as planned and assigned to meet the functional levels, needs and interests of each resident.
  • Affords assistance to residents to and from activity programs and outings.
  • Maintains positive relationships with family members and encourages their involvement in programs.
  • Provides feedback on resident participation upon request.
  • Communicates resident concerns and responses to interventions to the immediate supervisor.
  • Serves the individual needs, preferences, customary routines, and choices of each resident.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Positive, effective, and appropriate interpersonal skills with patients, families, and other staff members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to perform tasks and lead groups in activities.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of prior experience in a relevant role, preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting.

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling.
  • All with or without the aid of mechanical devices.
  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards.
  • Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
