Recreational Services Aide
About the role
Under the supervision of the Recreational Services Director, the Recreational Services Aide assists in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of recreational, physical, emotional, and psychosocial programs in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan.
Responsibilities
- Implements activity programming as planned and assigned to meet the functional levels, needs, and interests of each resident.
- Assists residents to and from activity programs and outings.
- Maintains good rapport with family members and encourages family support in programs.
- Provides input to the assessment and evaluation of the resident’s participation when requested.
- Communicates a resident’s concerns and responses to interventions to immediate supervisor.
- Supports a resident’s individual needs, preferences, customary routines, and choices.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of prior experience in a relevant role (preferred).
- At least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting.
Skills
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately and independently with patients, families, and other staff members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to perform the tasks required and lead groups in activities.
Physical Requirements
- Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling, with or without the aid of mechanical devices.
- Ability to distinguish smells and temperatures.
- Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards.
- Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols.
