About the Role
Salt Lake Behavioral Health is a private 118-bed freestanding psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and substance abuse treatment for adolescents and adults. We serve the Salt Lake City and surrounding area using evidence-based treatments in a comfortable, confidential atmosphere. Responsibilities
- Plan and implement therapeutic and evidence-based Recreational Therapy services to meet the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and cultural needs of patients.
- Define and implement treatment goals as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Support patients in their mental health journey by building a strong therapeutic alliance through empathetic and continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling.
- Conduct assessments, facilitate RT group interventions, document progress, and handle discharge planning for assigned patients.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Recreational Therapy, humanities, social work, or related therapeutic discipline.
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience; knowledge and understanding of psychiatric patient care techniques and mental illness preferred.
- Current national certification (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.
- Current license (TRS) through Utah Department of Professional Licensing.
- CPR certification.
- Successful completion of training for restraints and seclusions prior to assisting in any patient restraints or within 90 days of employment.
