About the role

The Recreation Leader II – Steam Engine position plays a key role in delivering the experience by supporting the daily operation of steam and diesel locomotives, assisting with railroad ride activities, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment for guests throughout the park.

Requirements

• No formal education required
• A minimum of six months' experience in a customer service position
• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• Must reside in the State of Arizona during employment

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Passion for railroading
• Willingness to learn about the park's railroad history
• Experience operating steam locomotive equipment
• Experience operating diesel locomotives or other related heavy equipment
• Experience using tools and performing minor mechanical adjustments during operations
• Experience working with a dynamic customer base and adapting to busy, guest-focused environments
• Experience connecting with supervisors, teammates, and guests in person or through radio, phone, or messages
• Experience monitoring safety practices and enforcing park rules while ensuring high-quality customer service

Pay

The anticipated starting salary for this position may be up to mid-point depending on candidate’s experience and internal equity. The full salary range is listed above and mid-point for this position is $25.54/hour.

Schedule

This position requires a flexible schedule that can vary week to week, which will include a combination of evenings, weekends, and holidays.
