Recreation Leader II (EVCC)

About the role

This front‑counter position at the East Valley Community Center (EVCC) engages the public regarding recreation programs, provides excellent customer service, and supports the center’s operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with activity registration, answer phones/emails, handle payments.
• Prepare room/gym set‑ups and perform general office duties.
• Provide assistance to City staff, outside agencies, and the general public concerning all community programs.
• Monitor facility activities to assure safety and security of public and staff.
• Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and in‑person.
• Handle emergencies, incidents, and/or injuries.
• Promote programs and events to customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years of age at time of employment.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly desirable.

• Strong customer service skills and ability to work with community members of all ages, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and City staff.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Organized and able to multi‑task.
• Ability to work independently and request assistance when necessary.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Professional Suite.
• Experience working in a public service or customer service environment.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Pay

$17.34 per hour.

Schedule

Shifts vary: weekdays 7:45 a.m. – 9:15 p.m.; weekends 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Position is limited to 999 hours per fiscal year.
