Responsibilities

• Assist in the coordination of recreation programs including adult and youth sports, special events, and other recreational activities.
• Prepare, set up, and clean up baseball, softball, and soccer fields.
• Perform general administrative duties: answer telephones, assist customers, collect fees, and maintain attendance records.
• Promote the safety of all program participants.
• Set up and take down tables, chairs, and sports equipment for facility activities and special events.
• Oversee the regular operations of a community center, fields, and gymnasium facility.
• Respond to patrons’ needs for assistance and information in person and over the phone.
• Operate standard office equipment including personal computers.
• Officiate or keep score for sports activities.
• Perform basic custodial duties.
• Set up and take down building furnishings and arrangements.
• Complete work assignments that may require operation of a vehicle.

Requirements

• Ability to lead and work effectively with program participants.
• Ability to organize and lead recreation activities.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants, and the public.
• Ability to maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
• Ability to use a personal computer and a variety of computer software.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds.
• Availability to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• May require Child First Aid and CPR Certification.
• May require ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions.
• May require ability to tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions.
• May require a valid Kansas Driver’s License.
