Apple Rehab Cromwell is a 74-bed skilled nursing community located in Central Connecticut. Its suburban setting at the top of a hillside offers views of the surrounding areas, easily accessible from Route 91 and 9. Apple Rehab of Cromwell provides progressive nursing and therapy services in the region. About the role

The Therapeutic Recreation Director plans, controls, and executes therapeutic recreational services for all residents in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, ensuring the highest quality recreation program. The role requires attention to detail, strong follow-through, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent leadership, supervisory skills, patience, tact, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks are essential. The director must be innovative, creative, and customer-focused to meet diverse resident needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing a full range of therapeutic recreational programs and activities for all residents, considering physical and emotional limitations and individual interests.
• Ensure observance of religious days, social events, national holidays, and traditional celebrations when planning residents’ calendar of events.
• Utilize community support to establish volunteer programs and intergenerational events.
• Encourage resident participation in therapeutic recreational activities appropriate to their level of functioning.
• Know and comply with the Residents’ Bill of Rights.
• Advise and instruct residents on issues and changes pertaining to the Residents’ Bill of Rights and their responsibilities through Resident Council.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy in reporting Resident Council minutes and care plan issues.
• Report all resident grievances and complaints to the supervisor immediately.

Requirements

• Must meet the requirements of Therapeutic Recreation Director as stated in the Public Health Code.
• At least one year of experience in a rehabilitative or geriatric setting.
• Must have a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and a safe driving record.
