About the role

The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility in Hanson, Kentucky, committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. We are seeking a Recreation Aide to join our Activities Department and make a lasting impression on our Veterans.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and coordinating therapeutic recreational activities such as parties, games, social outings, and special events.
• Interact with residents on a one-to-one basis to provide individual recreational activities.
• Record and maintain daily participation records of residents' activities.

Requirements

• This position is prohibited from hiring employees with convictions identified in 906 KAR 1:190. A fingerprint-supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.
• No formal education, experience, or skills required.

Working Conditions

• Typically works in an institutional, hospital facility, or summer camp setting.
• Work is of moderate physical nature, often outdoors, conducting recreational activities with long-term care residents, hospital patients, or similar groups.

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

Pay

• Hourly rate: $13.76
• Locality premium: $2.89 per hour (approved for Hopkins County in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1)).
