Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid in the implementation of camp activities, distribute flyers, rules, and registration forms.
- Lead activities tailored to specific age groups.
- Collect fees; answer calls about camp activities, input data into the computer.
- Accurately collect money and prepare daily cash reports.
- Assist with setting up fields or courts for special activities.
- Support community recreation programs, camps, classes, workshops, and activities.
- Assist and implement cultural arts, physical activities, day camps, and special interest activities for youth.
- Respond to public inquiries about recreation programs via phone, correspondence, or at public events.
- Prepare publications such as brochures, calendars, letters, posters, news releases, flyers, and related communications regarding recreation programs.
- Coordinate sports programs, register children for teams, collect fees, contact coaches, distribute and collect uniforms.
- Perform a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phones, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies, conducting arts/crafts activities, making arrangements for rental and use of Recreation Building, helping set up tables and chairs for classes, etc.
- Assist in scheduling activities at the Community/Civic Center.
- Assist with concession-related activities, including design, layout, operation, inventory, fee collecting.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Six (6) months related experience in recreation preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Special Requirements
- Valid Texas state driver's license or ability to obtain one by date of hire.
- Valid Texas state driver's license or ability to obtain one by date of hire.
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, sitting, talking, and hearing.
- Occasional lifting and moving up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Moderately loud when in the field.
- Occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
