About the Role

Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Responsible for ensuring the safety of pool guests, providing maximum pool area surveillance, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Lifeguard guests at the assigned aquatics facility, employing safety rules for protection.
• Rescue pool patrons and administer first aid as required.
• Assist in conducting aquatic swimming and water survival training per ATP 7-22.01 (October 2020) and support American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide.
• Maintain pool and surrounding area clean and free from hazards.
• Perform periodic water tests and report results to the pool leader on duty.
• Provide information to swimmers regarding safety, health, admission rules, and procedures.
• Assist in coaching or preparing competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.
• Maintain daily logs, reports, and records.
• Perform other assigned duties, including irregular shifts or special recreational events.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
• Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
• Must have a current health assessment documenting good physical health and freedom from communicable disease per Army Policy.
• Continuous exposure to sun, high temperatures, and humidity.
• Must obtain Hepatitis B vaccination series within 24 hours if exposed to infectious disease.
• Good vision (20/40 or better, corrected or uncorrected) to recognize emergencies and rule-breaking.
• Must follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
• Work hours may include weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.
• 15-year-old lifeguards must comply with DOL Child Labor Laws.
• May be subject to additional background checks if working with children.
• All required certifications must be kept current.

Qualifications

Resumes must clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities. Required certifications include:

• Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent, e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
• American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" or equivalent (e.g., American Heart Association CPR/AED).
• First Aid certification.
