About the Role

Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety of pool guests, performing rescues, administering first aid, and maintaining pool cleanliness and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce safety rules to protect pool guests.
  • Provide maximum pool area surveillance and respond to emergencies; rescue pool patrons and administer first aid as required.
  • Assist in conducting aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 (October 2020) and support American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide.
  • Maintain pool and surrounding area clean and free from hazards.
  • Perform periodic water tests and report results to the pool leader on duty.
  • Provide information to swimmers regarding safety, health, admission rules, and procedures.
  • May be assigned irregular duties or special recreational events, including weekends, weekdays, holidays, and night shifts.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check and pre-employment checks, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Fifteen-year-old lifeguards must comply with the restrictions of the DOL Child Labor Laws (January 17, 2006).
  • May be required to work irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, must obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Must have good vision (20/40 or better, corrected or uncorrected) to effectively recognize emergencies, incidents, and rule-breaking.
  • Required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

Resumes must clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities for this position. Qualified candidates must possess and maintain the following certifications (a copy of valid certification(s) must be uploaded at the time of application):

  • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent, e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
  • American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional" or equivalent (e.g., American Heart Association CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer).
  • First Aid certification.
  • For facilities using Oxygen Administration, the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross or installation-offered training, e.g., Fire Department) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.

This position does not have an education qualification requirement.
