This position is located at Hunter Pools, Hunter Army Airfield, GA. It is a Regular Part-Time role with a minimum work week of no less than 20 hours and is eligible for benefits. This job is open to U.S. Citizens, Nationals, or those who owe allegiance to the U.S., including Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Enforces safety rules for the protection of pool guests, providing maximum pool area surveillance and responding to emergencies.
  • Rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required.
  • Maintains pool and surrounding area clean and free from hazards.
  • Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty.
  • Provides information to swimmers regarding safety, health, admission rules, and procedures.
  • Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including irregular duties or special recreational events, which may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays, and night duty.

Requirements

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
  • Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check and pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • May be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
  • Must have a current health assessment documenting good physical health and freedom from communicable disease per current Army Policy.
  • Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
  • In case of exposure to infectious disease, must obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
  • Must have good vision (20/40 or better, corrected or uncorrected) to effectively recognize emergencies, incidents, and rule-breaking.
  • Must follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
  • All required certifications must be kept current.

Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain the following certifications:
    • Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent such as Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS).
    • American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional" or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer).
  • Certifications must be uploaded at the time of application.
  • Resumes must be two pages or less and clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Additional Information

  • This job is open to candidates located in the local community area (within a 50-mile radius of Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, GA), including Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized.
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid.
  • Access to certain federal facilities may require a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license/ID or an Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL).
