Recreation Aid

About the role

Full-time Recreation Aid position at Advanced Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, a 226‑bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility in New Haven, CT. The ideal candidate will have experience in a long‑term healthcare setting and excellent customer service skills, working in a warm, nurturing environment that supports resident dignity and independence.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and leads a wide variety of recreational activities/programs including music, arts, crafts, discussions, parties, social groups, trips, special events and entertainment, active and passive games, sensory type activities, movies, bingo, etc.
• Prepares a monthly calendar of activities that is posted in prominent areas and provided to every resident
• Ensures that all documentation requirements are met
• Develops a system to record resident participation / attendance
• Conducts regular entertainment, parties, seasonal programs and special events
• Ensures that facility is appropriately decorated as per the holiday/season
• Adheres to all facility and policies in accordance with State and Federal regulations

Requirements

• Previous experience working with seniors and/or in a healthcare setting a plus
• Must be very organized and have the ability to lead others
• Positive, outgoing, upbeat personality is a must
• Self‑directed with strong organizational & planning skills; ability to multi‑task
