POSITION SUMMARY & QUALIFICATIONS

The Recovery Outreach Specialist acts as the first point of contact for clients and community partners, ensuring a smooth and supportive admission experience. This position also supports census development by identifying community needs, strengthening referral networks, and promoting program services to key stakeholders. This role is very goal driven with a sales focus with skills such as inspiring trust, building strong relationships, and continuing to consistently follow up. The position requires exceptional communication, customer service, and critical thinking skills. This position also requires skills in time management and experience with clinical services. Experience with computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is required. The candidate must exhibit compassion toward people living with behavioral health and substance use issues, including those affected by Hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and persistently develop relationships with community partners including hospitals, courts, probation and parole, legal professionals, social service agencies, and healthcare providers to promote admissions.
  • Represent VOA professionally at referral generating activities such as outreach visits, presentations, and meetings to educate partners about addiction recovery services.
  • Promote services through networking, community engagement, and marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain persistent follow-up with community partners to strengthen relationships and generate qualified leads.
  • Complete referral screenings, verify insurance and schedule admission appointments.
  • Collaborate with admissions and clinical teams to ensure smooth referral coordination and timely access to services.
  • Contribute to census development through strategic outreach by monitoring referral trends, assessing community needs and using data.
  • Work proactively, persistently and effectively with community partners to optimize outreach efforts to ensure admissions.
  • Develop and maintain strategies to meet short- and long-term program census goals.
