About the role
The Village of Buffalo Grove and its administrative services department are seeking a part-time records clerk. Located thirty-three miles northwest of downtown Chicago and twenty miles north of O’Hare International Airport, Buffalo Grove is a growing community with a current population of 43,212. Recognized as one of the safest and most family-friendly communities in the U.S., Buffalo Grove offers a vibrant environment with neighboring communities like Arlington Heights, Lincolnshire, Long Grove, Riverwoods, Vernon Hills, and Wheeling.
Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain official records under the Administrative Services Manager’s guidance
- Support efficient recordkeeping processes
- Respond to information requests
- Handle Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, including redaction and departmental coordination
- Coordinate with the Illinois State Archives for records retention and destruction
- Post public notices in compliance with the Illinois Open Meetings Act
- Affiliate with business license tracking, updates, and issuance
- Perform related duties as assigned or required
- Engage in a variety of clerical, communications, and public contact tasks through in-person, electronic, and telephonic interactions
Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Experience in clerical work related to administrative record keeping
- Familiarity with Illinois FOIA, Open Meetings Act, and Local Records Act is a plus
