About the role

The incumbent serves as the Records and Information Management Specialist responsible for administering and supporting records management activities for the district in accordance with the Federal Records Act, agency regulations, and guidance issued by the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA).

Responsibilities

  • Performs lower-level records management activities for the United States Attorney Office (USAO), involving file organization, records inventories, file plans, docketing systems, suspense tracking, and records disposition actions.
  • Maintains correspondence logs, calendars, and tracking systems.
  • Affords support to office workflow coordination and reporting.
  • Supports the development, evaluation, maintenance, and execution of the USAO records management program and system design.
  • Serves as a source of technical information on all aspects of USAO docketing functions.

Requirements

  • Conditions of employment: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • Specialized experience, education, or combination thereof: To be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions, as defined below:
  • Specialized experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level, which includes experience performing projects and assignments involving official records including official electronic media; maintaining file arrangement systems, filing procedures, and filing techniques of official records; entering information into an electronic recordkeeping system; organizing and archiving physical and electronic files; retrieving information using query routines or from hard copy reports; and reviewing legal documents to determine appropriate coding and data entry.
  • Education: One full year of graduate level education in a related field (e.g., Business Management, Public Administration or Computer Science).
  • Superior Academic Achievement: Possess a Bachelor's Degree or expect to complete the requirements for a Bachelor's degree in a related field within the next 9 months AND possess at least one of the following criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in my major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; OR election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
  • Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.

Qualifications

  • GS-7: To be qualified at the GS-7 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions, as defined below:

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)

To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority. Such proof may include a copy of your written notification of ICTAP eligibility or a copy of your separation personnel action form.

Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)

To be well qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide a copy of your written notification of CTAP eligibility with your application.
