About the role
This is a full-time float position providing coverage where needed in various primary and specialty care departments. Primary work location is Moses Lake Clinic; float staff will also provide occasional coverage at clinics in Ephrata and Royal City. Core work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with occasional evening or weekend shifts in the Walk-In Clinic. Float positions are compensated with an additional $1 per hour float differential.
Responsibilities
- Courteously and professionally greet, instruct, direct, and schedule patients and visitors; serve as a liaison between patient and medical support staff
- Greet patients and visitors promptly and courteously; prepare patient information for the visit; coordinate with providers and support staff for efficient patient flow
- Schedule, cancel, and reschedule appointments; utilize the waitlist for patients requesting earlier appointments and for filling provider openings
- Answer telephones and provide outstanding customer service for every encounter
- Operate general office equipment
- Verify accurate billing, demographic, and insurance information at every encounter; accurately code new insurance using available resources
- Obtain or initiate required waivers for non-covered services; confirm referral has been obtained when required; contact referring office as needed
- Collect co-pays and payments on accounts; provide receipts; explain co-pay and time of service policy to patients; collect patient balance owing on account when appropriate
- Balance a cash drawer and perform elementary math functions (addition/subtraction)
- Maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times
Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing
- Typing skills at least 35 wpm
- Basic computer skills
Preferred qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- One year work experience in medical office setting
- Medical terminology desirable
Pay
Salary range $17.13 – $26.45 per hour.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with occasional evening or weekend shifts in the Walk-In Clinic.
