About the role
Under the general direction of the Program Director or Designee, the Receptionist manages the front desk area daily and performs a variety of administrative and clerical tasks in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.
Responsibilities
- Conducts psychiatric evaluations for program participants.
- Maintains the main reception area to convey the agency’s professionalism.
- Operates the primary switchboard (may be computerized) and routes incoming calls to appropriate parties.
- Takes telephone messages and forwards them to the correct recipients.
- Greets visitors and refers them to the appropriate parties.
- Maintains a warm, professional demeanor in all interactions with the community, clients, and staff.
- Signs for incoming packages and arranges pick-up services for outgoing packages.
- Enforces and complies with security measures, including sign-in/sign-out sheets, visitor badges, incident reports, fire drills, and security alarm procedures. Trains security personnel as needed.
- Observes all laws governing client and staff confidentiality.
- Handles typing assignments and filing as needed.
- Sorts and distributes mail.
- Stays updated on changes in the field.
- Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least two (2) years of experience as a Switchboard Operator or Receptionist.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of the program’s participants.
- Good interpersonal skills to interact with staff, clients, and visitors.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple phone lines, greet and direct participants and visitors.
- Experience collaborating with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
Pay
$20.87–$21.97 per hour
