About the role
The Receiving Department Lead oversees the safe receipt and storage of inbound product. They ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock. The Receiving Department Lead ensures inbound product is processed as accurately and efficiently as possible. The department lead will motivate and manage workers and deal with personnel issues such as training and discipline of staff.
Responsibilities
- Controls receiving workflow by assigning tasks to employees, monitor effectiveness and make adjustment to the plan to ensure a consistent steady flow of materials
- Ensures product is inspected closely to identify any possible theft/shortages of inbound product before it is received
- Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results
- Process receiving exceptions daily and communicate to management any issues
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
- Enforce attendance policy and dress code (Written notices given)
- Make sure staff maintains a clean safe work environment
- Effectively communicates with the upper management about receiving exceptions, shortages and discrepancies
- Maintains warehouse staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
- Manages personnel requirements by communicating needs to the Operations Manager
Qualifications & Skills
- Familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, MS Word, etc.)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to work additional hours as needed to meet customer requirements
- Must have prior experience as a receiving lead/supervisor
- Manhattan WMS experience is a big plus
