Real Estate Finance Counsel Attorney Location: New York, New York Experience: 8+ Years Compensation: $350,000 – $450,000 + Bonus A sophisticated national real estate finance practice is seeking an experienced Counsel-level attorney to join its New York team. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior real estate finance lawyer with deep lender-side experience to work on complex transactions involving institutional capital, structured finance, multifamily lending, and broader real estate investment activity. The role offers meaningful client contact, substantial responsibility, and the opportunity to work alongside an experienced national team handling sophisticated matters across a wide range of real estate sectors. The Role The successful candidate will advise secured lenders on complex commercial real estate finance transactions, including: Balance sheet lendingBridge financingCMBS and conduit lendingMultifamily financingStructured real estate finance transactionsLoan workouts and distressed real estate mattersAffordable housing and mixed-income transactionsCommunity development and related financing matters You will take a leading role in structuring, documenting, negotiating, and closing sophisticated financings while working directly with business and legal teams at major financial institutions and other real estate market participants. Candidates with experience involving Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and other multifamily lending platforms will be particularly attractive. Candidate Profile Candidates Should Have 8+ years of commercial real estate finance experienceSignificant experience representing secured lendersStrong exposure to balance sheet, bridge, and/or CMBS/conduit lendingExperience gained within a sophisticated law firm environmentStrong drafting, negotiation, and transaction-management skillsThe ability to inspire confidence when advising both legal and business teamsExcellent interpersonal and client-facing capabilitiesStrong academic credentialsExcellent written and oral communication skillsA JDPrevious experience working in a law firmActive admission to the New York Bar Experience with multifamily agency lending, affordable housing, and/or workouts would provide additional scope within the practice.
