About the role

The Real Estate Attorney will represent nonprofit organizations in real estate development, acquisition, financing, and community development transactions that create and preserve affordable housing opportunities. In addition to legal work, this individual will cultivate relationships across Ohio's housing ecosystem, helping build partnerships and identify opportunities that advance housing access and community development goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise nonprofit clients on real estate transactions related to affordable housing development and preservation
  • Draft, review, and negotiate transactional real estate documents
  • Support real estate financing transactions and development projects
  • Build relationships with nonprofit organizations, housing advocates, community groups, developers, and public-sector stakeholders
  • Collaborate with affordable housing partners throughout Ohio to identify and develop new project opportunities
  • Support advocacy efforts that advance affordable housing initiatives
  • Contribute to strategic planning, program growth, and long-term organizational development

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Licensed or eligible for admission in Ohio
  • Experience in real estate law, real estate finance, development, community economic development, or a related practice area
  • Strong transactional experience, including drafting and negotiating complex agreements
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and client counseling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Interest in affordable housing, community development, and mission-driven legal practice

Benefits

Compensation: $140,000 - $170,000, commensurate with experience in addition to a robust benefits package.
