Nixon Peabody's Affordable Housing team helps shape housing policy and anticipate issues to keep affordable housing investments on track, recognizing that affordable, quality housing is essential to any thriving community. Our knowledge and experience of the development, financing, and regulation of affordable and public housing is unmatched.

Responsibilities

  • Represent nonprofit and for-profit developers in building, acquiring, and financing multifamily and commercial properties
  • Provide legal counsel on federal, state, and New York City affordable housing and community development programs and regulations
  • Work on a variety of affordable housing transactions, including new developments, acquisitions, and financings
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Advise clients on regulatory requirements and provide guidance on navigating complex legal and financial issues
  • Collaborate with other departments within the firm to ensure seamless integration of legal and business objectives

Requirements

  • Substantial transactional experience representing nonprofit and for-profit developers in building, acquiring, and financing multifamily and commercial properties
  • A comprehensive understanding of federal, state, and New York City affordable housing and community development programs and regulations
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Superb judgment and communication skills
  • A commitment to providing excellent client services

Qualifications

  • Five to seven years of experience in affordable housing transactions
  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in New York State

Skills

  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

In addition to a standard benefits package, this role may be eligible for additional contingent compensation based on an array of factors, including but not limited to: work performance, geographic location, work experience, education, and qualifications. Because such contingent compensation is not yet calculable or may be zero ($0) in some circumstances, the above-listed salary range is Nixon Peabody’s good faith estimate of the annual salary it reasonably expects to pay for the position at the time of this posting.

Pay

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is as follows: - New York, NY: $300,000 to $335,000
