Syufy Enterprises is a fast-growing, financially strong Marin-based entertainment and leisure company that owns a variety of businesses, including high-end athletic clubs and spas, restaurants, golf venues, shopping centers, public markets, and drive-in theaters. Over the next several years, the company will be rapidly expanding all its brands and looking to invest in new brands.
About the role
The Real Estate Accountant reports to the Senior Real Estate Accountant and supports AR/AP, month- and year-end close, financial reporting and budgeting, and property onboarding.
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial reporting
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities for assigned properties, including banking, payables and receivables, and ensuring accurate financial records
- Review financial data for accuracy and prepare timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in the preparation of the annual budgets
- Support property transitions, including new acquisitions, developments, and system setups
- Assist with processing property-level expenses such as property taxes and insurance
- Develop and maintain process documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Contribute to and manage process improvements and assigned ad hoc projects as needed
Requirements
- B.S. in Accounting or Business Administration
- Minimum of 3 years accounting experience, preferably in real estate
- Experience with Yardi or comparable real estate accounting software is a plus
- Solid understanding of the full accounting cycle: GL, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-/year-end close
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of Excel
- Able to work independently and with minimum direction once the task and objectives have been defined
- Able to meet internal and external deadlines
Physical and environmental requirements
- Occasional bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 10 lbs
- Frequent sitting and occasional standing, walking, reaching
- Noise level may be moderate to high at times
Pay
$83,600 - $90,700 based on relevant experience to the role
