Real Estate Accountant
About the role
The Real Estate Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of assigned real estate properties. This position involves preparing and reviewing financial statements, generating accruals and adjusting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and supporting annual tax filings and financial audits.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements.
- Generate monthly accruals and adjust journal entries.
- Perform multiple monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
- Conduct analytical reviews of the General Ledger.
- Track Capital Projects, calculate useful lives, and manage book value from work in progress to placement into service.
- Prepare and file recurring sales tax (monthly, quarterly, or annually).
- Prepare annual budgets, reforecasts, and year-end operating expense reconciliations.
- Support annual tax file preparation and financial audits.
- Research open accounting issues, identify potential conflicts, and take corrective action to minimize risks.
- Adhere to Client Accounting Policies and Procedures to ensure consistent fulfillment of internal and external reporting requirements.
- Undertake special projects and other tasks based on workload demands.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or business related field of study.
- 3+ years of experience in professional-level accounting.
- Experience in financial statement preparation and general ledger account reconciliation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient experience with Yardi, MRI, and/or JDE E1 software.
- Working knowledge of Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Strong work ethic & high attention to detail.
Pay
The annual base pay is $66,600.00 - $92,000.00. The base rate may vary based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
Schedule
This position requires 4 days per week in the office, with 1 day of remote work each week.
