Real Estate Accountant

Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Real Estate Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the financial reporting, accounting, and analysis for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
• Record and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank accounts.
• Review tenant leases to ensure accurate billing of rent, CAM charges, utilities, and other recoveries.
• Process and reconcile security deposits, tenant move-ins/move-outs, and lease-related accounting adjustments.
• Assist in preparation of CAM reconciliations, real estate tax reconciliations, and tenant billings.
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes for property operations and capital expenditures.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and track capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant regulations.
• Collaborate with property managers, leasing teams, and executives to resolve tenant and vendor issues.
• Assist with audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements.
• Provide financial analysis to support property acquisitions, dispositions, and refinancing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience (real estate or property management strongly preferred).
• Proficiency in property management/accounting software (Yardi, MRI, Infor, AppFolio, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with CAM reconciliations, real estate tax, and utility billing.
• Familiarity with commercial and/or residential lease structures.
