About the role

The Ready-Mix Dispatcher coordinates and schedules ready-mix concrete deliveries to customer job sites while maximizing fleet utilization, maintaining customer service standards, and supporting safe and efficient operations. This position serves as a critical communication link between customers, drivers, plant personnel, sales representatives, and operations management to ensure timely and accurate delivery of concrete products. The role involves monitoring production schedules, delivery routes, and fleet availability while responding to changing job site conditions, customer requests, and operational needs.

Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Control the number of drivers needed throughout the day and make necessary adjustments to maintain company goals.
  • Maintain a pleasant and accommodating phone demeanor with a consistently positive attitude.
  • Develop a positive rapport with drivers and company supervisors.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with delivery areas and assist drivers in locating job sites.
  • Determine travel time to jobs and identify the best plant location to service them.
  • Work overtime and varying shifts, including early mornings, late afternoons, and Saturdays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior related experience in dispatching, logistics, transportation, customer service, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in ready-mix concrete, construction materials, trucking, or construction industries is highly desirable.
  • Ability to type accurately and use database software (e.g., Command Alkon), internet software, order processing systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write instructions, correspondence, and memos clearly and effectively.
  • Proficiency in basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to work well with others in group or one-on-one settings.
