About the Role
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Schools, the Director of Literacy/Social Studies, and building administration, the Reading Interventionist is responsible for providing high-quality, research-based interventions to support Title I students who are below grade level. The role focuses on analyzing assessment data, delivering targeted instruction, and fostering collaboration with families and educators to improve student outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Analyze assessment data and provide "real-time" push-in and pull-out research-based interventions in core curricular areas for Title I students below grade level, based on i-Ready and other assessment instruments.
- Gather, organize, and interpret assessment data for Title I-identified students.
- Utilize best-practice instructional strategies and research-based intervention curriculum materials to meet the learning needs of identified students.
- Model intervention strategies through small-group instruction.
- Analyze existing student achievement data and administer progress-monitoring assessments as needed.
- Provide District Directors and Teachers with information from small-group interventions.
- Manage student behavior to ensure a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, building administrators, parents, and District Directors to design and plan intervention groups.
- Maintain accurate student records, parent communication logs, and progress data reports as required by Title I law and district policy.
- Attend professional development opportunities to improve instructional strategies and support researched-based resource materials.
- Follow district guidelines and policies, including the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibilities for Teachers.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personal, student, or personnel records and information.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree (required).
- Valid Connecticut teacher certificate (preferred).
- Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal skills, time management, organizational abilities, and oral/written communication.
- Ability to use technology as a communication and teaching tool.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn operating systems (e.g., Windows), office suites (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Docs), presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote), spreadsheets (e.g., Excel, Google Spreadsheets), communication/collaboration tools (e.g., Skype), and student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool).
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and educational assistants.
- Organizational ability and willingness to pursue tasks to successful completion.
- Superior oral and written communication skills.
Pay
$25.00 per hour, with a maximum of 25 hours per week.
Schedule
Part-time position for the 2026-2027 school year.
