Job Responsibilities
- Lesson planning and instruction of English/Reading in grades 6-8.
- Demonstrates ability to differentiate instruction by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all students.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit student needs.
- Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learning of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional development meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
- Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Qualifications
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate required.
- Highly qualified to teach K-8 English (ZG) or English (BA, BX) endorsements required.
- Experience working with English Learner students preferred.
Pay
Minimum starting salary for all certified teachers is $55,000**.
