Rare Disease Business Manager, PI (Virginia Beach)

About the role
As a Rare Disease Business Manager for Primary Immune Deficiency and CIDP, you will join the PI/CIDP Sales Team and report to the Sr. Regional Business Director. This role focuses on driving new patient starts, sales in outpatient infusion centers and hospitals, and retention of patients on Takeda augmentation treatment. You will engage with healthcare professionals (Allergy/Immunology, Pulmonology, Infectious Disease, select Internal Medicine/Primary Care, and Neurologists) to educate them on Takeda brands and support resources, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Achieve sales quotas through new patient starts, sales in outpatient infusion centers and hospitals, and retention of patients on Takeda augmentation treatment.
- Conduct customer engagements to deliver sales presentations, provide technical and administrative product information, and educate on neuromuscular conditions and Takeda support resources.
- Understand influence points within healthcare offices and how each individual affects diagnosis, treatment, and prescriptions/referrals/orders.
- Participate in community education events and conferences for healthcare professionals and patients.
- Analyze local and regional business/managed market trends to build both long- and short-term goals for a successful business plan.
- Collaborate with multiple teams (Marketing, Patient Services, Alternate Site Team, Integrated Health Systems, Market Access, and National Accounts) to ensure customer satisfaction and pull-through opportunities.
- Work compliantly in a matrix environment, including handling confidential patient information in accordance with Takeda practices and policies.
- Embody Takeda’s patient-centric culture and values (Patient, Trust, Reputation, Business) in decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA).
- Minimum of 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device, or 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda, or relevant clinical or industry experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to navigate complex selling environments and influence decision-makers across key accounts.
- Strong business acumen and strategic planning skills to identify and execute selling opportunities.
- Demonstrated territory planning, strategic account management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to interpret analytical data to create effective sales strategies.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work within a matrix of cross-functional partners.
- Understanding of payer access and reimbursement at territory, regional, and state levels.
- Adaptability to changing market conditions and customer needs.
- Demonstrated learning agility with the ability to develop and compliantly apply clinical expertise and selling skills.
- Must reside within the assigned territory or supported geography.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, preferably in rare disease.
- Sales experience with pharmaceutical or biologic products requiring coordination with patient access and market access teams.
- Relevant clinical or industry experience.
- Consultative/needs-based selling skills.
- Experience working in a highly regulated marketplace.
- Adept at leveraging emerging technologies, digital tools, and openness to AI-enabled processes.

Schedule
- Ability to drive and/or fly to accounts and occasional business meetings.
- Overnight travel of up to 25-50% may be required, depending on geographic assignment.
Training
This position requires successful completion of mandatory product training, including written and oral examinations. During the training period (up to 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week), the employee will be classified as non-exempt and eligible for overtime but ineligible for sales incentive programs or production-based bonuses. After passing the training, the employee transitions to exempt status, becomes eligible for Takeda’s sales incentive programs, and is paid bi-weekly.
Pay
Hourly wage range: $66.11 – $90.91. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. U.S.-based employees may also be eligible for short-term incentives.
