Rare Disease Business Manager - PI/CIDP (Des Moines)

About the role
Join us as a Rare Disease Business Manager supporting Primary Immune Deficiency (PI) and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) in Iowa and Omaha, NE. As part of the PI/CIDP Sales Team, you will report to the Sr. Regional Business Director and contribute to transforming patient care through innovative, R&D-driven market leadership.
Responsibilities
- Achieve sales quotas by driving new patient starts, sales in outpatient infusion centers and hospitals, and retention of patients on Takeda augmentation treatment.
- Conduct customer engagements to deliver sales presentations, provide technical and administrative product information, and educate on neuromuscular conditions and Takeda support resources.
- Understand influence points within healthcare offices and how each individual affects diagnosis, treatment, and the prescription/referral/order process.
- Participate in community education events and conferences for healthcare professionals and patients.
- Focus on healthcare professionals (Allergy/Immunology, Pulmonology, Infectious Disease, select Internal Medicine/Primary Care, and Neurologists) to educate and inform on Takeda brands for PI and CIDP.
- Analyze local and regional business/managed market trends to build both long- and short-term goals that lead to a successful business plan.
- Collaborate with multiple teams (Marketing, Patient Services, Alternate Site Team, Integrated Health Systems, Market Access, and National Accounts) to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and pull-through opportunities within each geography.
- Work compliantly in a matrix environment encompassing Patient Services, Specialty Infusion Pharmacies, and Managed Markets, including handling confidential patient information in accordance with Takeda practices and policies.
- Embody and embrace the patient-centric culture aligned with Takeda’s values (Takeda-ism) and follow PTRB (patient, trust, reputation, business) as a guide in decision-making.
- Conduct community education events for healthcare professionals and patients, occasionally working nights and weekends.
- Partner with and motivate extended team members to improve performance, fostering a culture of engagement and accountability.
Requirements
- Required: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA).
- 3+ years of successful selling experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device and/or relevant clinical or industry experience; OR 2+ years of successful selling experience at Takeda.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to navigate complex selling environments and influence various decision-makers in key accounts.
- Strong business acumen and strategic planning skills to identify and execute selling opportunities.
- Demonstrated territory planning, strategic account management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to interpret analytical data to create effective sales strategies.
- Strong collaborative skills and ability to work within a matrix of cross-functional partners.
- Understanding of payer access and reimbursement at territory, regional, and state levels.
- Adaptability to changing market conditions and customer needs.
- Demonstrated learning agility with the ability to develop and compliantly apply clinical expertise and selling skills.
- Must reside within the assigned territory or geography.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, preferably in rare disease.
- Sales experience with pharmaceutical or biologic products requiring coordination with patient access and market access teams.
- Relevant clinical or industry experience.
- Consultative/needs-based selling skills.
- Experience working in a highly regulated marketplace.
- Adept at leveraging emerging technologies, digital tools, and openness to AI-enabled processes.
Travel Requirements
- Ability to drive and/or fly to accounts and occasional business meetings.
- Some overnight travel of up to 25-50% may be required depending on geographic assignment.
Training Requirements
This position and continued employment are contingent upon successfully passing mandatory product training, including written and oral examinations. During the training period (up to 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week), the employee will be classified as non-exempt and eligible for overtime but not for Takeda-related sales incentive programs or production-based bonuses. After successful completion of training, the employee will transition to exempt status, become eligible for overtime, and participate in Takeda’s sales incentive programs.
Pay
U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $66.11 - $97.84. The actual hourly wage offered may depend on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. U.S.-based employees may also be eligible for short-term incentives.
