About the role
The Railcar Repair Technician conducts all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars. This role requires strong leadership, teamwork, and a safety-conscious mindset.
Responsibilities
- Perform railcar repairs using current procedures and conduct inspections to ensure compliance.
- Meet customer expectations to ensure satisfaction with completed work.
- Complete all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order documentation accurately.
- Maintain required certifications and demonstrate familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in using hand tools (e.g., pipe wrenches, pry bars, ratchets) and equipment for chipping/grinding weld slag or spatter.
- Ability to perform basic railcar repairs and inspections.
- Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to proper procedures.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Travel up to 50%, including weekly local travel, regional day trips, and potential overnight stays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stoop for extended periods and transition between kneeling and standing.
- Lift up to 50 pounds from ground level.
- Climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
- Pass a FIT Test and wear a respirator.
- Pass a company physical exam, drug screening, and background check.

Pay
$24.92/hour.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM.
