Railcar Repair Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars using current repair procedures.
• Perform railcar inspections to ensure compliance and execute necessary repairs.
• Meet customer expectations to ensure satisfaction with work performed.
• Complete all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order documentation.
• Maintain all required certifications and demonstrate strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
• Perform welding repairs and other work-related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Mechanical aptitude with problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to use hand tools (e.g., pipe wrenches, pry bars, wrenches, ratchets) and equipment to chip/grind weld slag or spatter.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Ability to handle and complete basic railcar repairs and inspections.
• Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills; ability to work as part of a team.
• Commitment to working safely and following proper procedures.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stoop for extended periods and routinely move from kneeling to standing positions.
• Ability to wear a respirator.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds from the ground surface.
• Ability to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Must pass a company physical exam.
• Travel to customer sites using a company vehicle; most travel occurs within the shift, though occasional overnight stays may be required.

Pay

$23.36 - $30.64 per hour
