About the role

The Railcar Repair Technician at Transco Rail Services is responsible for conducting all aspects of repair and maintenance on tank cars. This role requires excellent leadership and team skills, as well as a safety-conscious approach.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts railcar inspections to ensure compliance and performs repairs as necessary.
  • Maintains all certifications and demonstrates strong familiarity with AAR rules and regulations.
  • Performs welding repairs and other work-related tasks as assigned.
  • Ensures all necessary invoicing, inspection, and work order information is complete.
  • Handles and completes basic railcar repairs and inspections.
  • Demonstrates strong customer relations and works effectively as part of a team.
  • Works safely and follows proper procedures, including wearing a respirator and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Travels to customer sites with a company vehicle, often overnight, and works in various weather conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to use hand tools and perform welding repairs.
  • Welding experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Physical ability to stoop, move between kneeling and standing positions, lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Passes company physical exam.

Schedule

This site requires traveling to customer sites with a company vehicle, most travel is done within the shift, in some cases overnight stay is required.
